If you haven’t already begun planning next year’s conferences, stop what you’re doing right. now. Your personal and professional development needs one hour of concentrated focus! Don’t worry. We’ve done all the heavy lifting for you and put together the top 10 MUST conferences for women in 2019.
First off, we understand that you might not get to travel for professional development and currently have no chance at getting to any of the conferences on this list. Our response? Don’t let that stop you. We have three suggestions. One, talk with your supervisor about your professional development goals. This goes beyond just asking if you can attend one of these events. Really let them know why it’s important for you in your current role to educate yourself consistently and get the time to focus on that completely for at least a few days out of the year. This might really open their eyes a bit more and at least consider sending you. Two, think about taking on the cost personally and taking a few days of PTO to make that happen. We know for many of you, getting your supervisor to commit to any extra expense for the sake of education is like asking your bank account for a few extra zeros to appear. It’s. Not. Going. To. Happen. Three, if you can’t make it to one of these conferences, look for something along these lines but local to you so the cost or time away from your everyday job isn’t a hurdle. Later on in this post, I’ve listed a few resources for finding local events around you.
So here we go! The Big 10! In no special order of importance by the way, just based on time of year. 🙂 Since it’s summer 2018 as I write this post, most of these events have just happened or are about to happen so I’m including a timeframe next to each one as they usually happen around the same time of the year, each year.
